The work of the people acknowledged above allowed the FAI to rightly recognise the contributions of a few people.
John Dickenson was awarded the highest FAI award, the Gold Air Medal. It was proposed by CIVL (FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission). The National Aero Club of France, the United Kingdom, Great Britain, Australia, and the USA pushed the nomination.
Rod Fuller and Pat Crowe, whose 1963 collaboration with John culminated in the moment in history that put free flight within the reach of all, were honoured with the FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Diploma.
For his recording of hang gliding history that leaves a timeless legacy, Graeme Henderson was awarded the FAI Paul Tissandier Diploma.
For his longest tenure of any CIVL’s Presidents, and his strong leadership through some difficult times, Stéphane Malbos was awarded the FAI Silver Medal.
